Rise Labs

THE CHALLENGE

How can we introduce a new coding course to an established market, while appealing to a group that has historically faced marginalization by the tech industry?

THE BRIEF

Women comprise only 26% of tech occupations, despite making up nearly half of the US workforce. Rise Labs, a new coding bootcamp, wants to change that. Their mission is to teach women and non-binary individuals how to code in order to build viable tech careers and a solid network of mission-driven tech workers. Through community-based learning, live classes, and a strong mentorship program, Rise Labs creates a clear path into STEM careers.

As a new course, it was crucial to create a brand that could break through the competitive market to reach the target audience. The visual identity needed to appeal to folks who have historically been marginalized by the tech industry, so an approachable tone was critical. It was also important to highlight the brand's unique offerings.

THE SOLUTION

For this project it was important to give the brand an open, encouraging tone and a fresh and contemporary visual identity. The color palette aims to give the brand an approachable, yet distinct look. The angular, san serif type feels accessible and contemporary. The photos were selected to foster a sense of relatability for the target audience. The result is an authoritative, yet welcoming brand that establishes itself as the go-to bootcamp for women and gender-diverse learners.
